Behind the Delivery: How Anovo’s 3PL/Wholesale Team Keeps Rare Therapies Moving
August 20, 2025
At Anovo, every team plays a role in delivering hope to patients living with rare diseases. While many think of direct patient interactions when imagining healthcare, the journey of a therapy begins long before it reaches the patient’s hands. For Anovo’s 3PL/Wholesale team, ensuring these therapies are handled with precision, care, and urgency is at the core of their work.
Moving Therapies Forward, Behind the Scenes
Chris Carrier, Director, Wholesale, describes his team’s work simply: “We help rare disease therapies reach patients by making sure products are received, handled, stored, and shipped accurately and on time. Even though we don’t work directly with patients, our behind-the-scenes work is critical to making sure therapies are delivered safely and reliably.”
That behind-the-scenes focus does not make their work any less personal. Each package shipped represents a patient waiting for relief, and every delay avoided means maintaining continuity of care for someone with a rare condition. The team’s work is both operational and deeply human.
An Integrated Model That Drives Success
What makes Anovo’s distribution model different is its integrated approach. Housing 3PL/Wholesale operations alongside specialty pharmacy and patient support creates unique opportunities for efficiency and problem-solving. The result is a system that is more responsive and coordinated than traditional distribution models.
“Having our primary customer, the pharmacy team, right in the same building makes a huge difference. It allows us to respond to needs in real-time and keep communication open throughout the day.”
– Jake Shurden – Designated Representative
Mac Jones, Wholesale Supervisor, agrees. “Everyone works together for the same goal. We support the pharmacy team, and they support us. When a patient needs their medication, it’s all hands on deck.”
Cross-Team Collaboration in Action
In practice, collaboration is not just encouraged at Anovo – it is essential to the daily operations of the 3PL/Wholesale team. From coordinating emergency shipments to adjusting fulfillment schedules based on patient needs, the team works closely with colleagues across departments to deliver seamless service to manufacturer partners and their patients.
“Cross-collaboration is a huge part of how we work, It keeps operations smooth, helps us solve problems faster, and lets us stay focused on shared goals.”
– Chris Carrier – Director, Wholesale
Jake Shurden adds that “these partnerships also extend to Anovo’s manufacturer partners. From reporting updates to navigating regulatory requirements, collaboration with clients helps the team operate efficiently while meeting each product’s unique needs.”
Precision, Compliance, and a Commitment to Excellence
Managing rare disease therapies requires more than just standard logistics knowledge. Every product comes with its own handling and storage requirements. Compliance regulations are strict, and maintaining product integrity is non-negotiable.
“Our team follows strict procedures using detailed SOPs and regular training. With rare therapies, there is no margin for error. That is why quality, compliance, and consistency are priorities for every team member.”
– Chris Carrier – Director, Wholesale
Technology plays a supporting role. Tools like SAP, Produmex, and comprehensive tracking systems help the team organize orders, monitor inventory, and manage documentation efficiently, allowing them to focus on accuracy and patient needs.
Going Above and Beyond for Patients
What sets this team apart is their willingness to act whenever patients are at risk of missing their medication. While the standard schedule keeps most shipments on time, emergencies are never off the table.
“We’ve handled weekend shipments and late add-ons when necessary,” says Mac Jones. “If a patient needs their therapy, we find a way to make it happen.”
Whether responding to urgent pharmacy requests after hours or coordinating special reporting for manufacturer partners, the team’s commitment to service is constant.
Bobby Churchwell, Warehouse & Distribution Associate, captures this dedication well: “Even if patients never meet us, what we do matters to them. We take that seriously.”
A Shared Purpose
Perhaps the strongest bond across the 3PL/Wholesale team is their shared sense of purpose. They describe themselves as hardworking, collaborative, and committed, a reflection not just of their approach to their work, but of their connection to Anovo’s broader mission.
“What I enjoy most about working at Anovo is that everyone is aligned around the same goal: servicing the patient,” says Chris Carrier. “Even though I don’t interact with patients directly, I know that my work plays a critical role in making sure they get the therapies they need.”
At Anovo, patients are always the priority. And while the 3PL/Wholesale team may work behind the scenes, their role is at the very heart of delivering life-changing therapies to the people who need them most.
